At the closing meeting of the January residency, students requested that I ask for their thoughts on topics for workshops and lectures at the August 2011 residency.
Now's your chance!
Please add a comment to this post, or send me a note at azevedoh@wcsu.edu by Friday, May 20th, to let me know what you'd like to see on the residency schedule.

Poetry workshops of any kind. And maybe some advice about promoting yourself as a writer? ie how to use social media to your advantage...how to submit your work professionally, how to make connections in the industry...etc.etc. Laurel Saville would be great for that.
I would like to attend a screenwriting workshop. I know there are people in the program doing that--at least I think there are--but there hasn't been a workshop offered in the field since I've been here.
Journalism workshop: future of print media in magazines and/or newspapers.
So, I thought I had already posted to this thread, but I don't see my comment. Forgive me if I double up on this.
I would like to see a screenwriting workshop on the schedule this year. I believe there are some people doing this in the program, and it would be another opportunity to gain multi-genre experience for those of us who aren't.
I would like one on feature writing and journalism with an emphasis on magazines, which we've had before but from more of a freelance perspective. I would like to learn more about the business end.
"Ditto" pretty much to all the preceeding comments. Also, to follow a little on Carolyn's note, a workshop that focuses on practical concerns for the submission process (e.g. finding appropriate venues for one to send one's work, ways to effeciently follow-up after submitting, etc.)Thank you. cy
As someone in the print media working in tandem with building a greater social media presence, I'm interested in knowing where newspapers and magazines are going.
