Thesis Semester

Those of you heading into your fourth semester in the Fall should already have a good handle on the direction of and plan for completion of your thesis projects. There will be a panel session at the August residency on the thesis process; several graduates and I will be there to answer any questions you have. At some point this summer I will distribute to you the updated Thesis Advisement Guide. If you have not yet queried your preferred thesis advisors about their willingness/availability to work with you in the Fall, you should do so immediately.

Hi Brian -
Any thoughts on when we'll know if we get our requested thesis advisors? Also assuming we'll need to submit a thesis proposal --are you anticipating that this will be in the late August timeframe?

Thanks!
Anne

Thesis advisors will be confirmed at the same time as all other course requests, probably at the end of this month. Thesis requests will have high priority, so the only problem would be if a particular advisor had more requests than he/she was willing to take on. The Thesis Advisement Guide will have all of the info you need on the Thesis process; the deadline for proposals will be Sept. 15.

Brian,
Is the question and answer session about the thesis project open to students other than those in the fourth semester? I would like to start thinking along those lines...

Yes, good question--the thesis panel will be for everyone, not just for fourth-semester students.
