A call to the Sci-Fi followers

With the recent movie release of "I Am Legend" with Will Smith, I've been reading up on Richard Matheson since I had never heard of him before. I didn't realize that the movie, "What Dreams May Come" with Robin Williams was based on one of his books.

So for the Sci-Fi followers, what do you think of Matheson? Is the book "Dreams" worth reading or should I not bother?

Hi Lisa,

Glad to see you this semester! Anyway, Matheson is one of those geniuses science fiction/horror has. What Dreams May Come isn't one of his best books, though I Am Legend certainly is! (I believe recent editions tend to bundle the short novel with a number of short stories too.)

It's difficult to go wrong with anything Matheson. You're probably more familiar with him than you may think, in fact: most of the best episodes of the original Twilight Zone were written or co-written by Matheson.

I've been watching re-runs of the Twilight Zone since my days in NYC, and often watched the marathons on Channel 11! I did notice that certain editions of "I Am Legend" are bundled with other short stories. I'll take your suggestion, Nick. Thanks!
