Peer Workshop - Poetry Genre

Hello All,

I'm only aware of three (3) students working in the genre of poetry; myself, M.Laydon and C. Baccaro. If there are any more of you out there - returning or new students - and you see this post, please identify yourselves and express your level of interest in creating a Peer Workshop that is focused on our common Genre.

If you can, please respond here in "Comment" or privately to vinniekmetz@yahoo.com. Beyond that communication, I will set up in a notorious location for our first lunch, tomorrow 12/28 and we can organize from that kiosk.

Cheers

VK

Thank you Vinny! Though Carolyn isn't coming to this residency. . . Just so you know.

ML,

I do not care if it ends up being me and you...whatever, I just really want to work with, evaluate, and have my own work evaluated by persons working in our genre.

I end up doing everything half-assed when I'm trying to also contribute to fiction, memoir, travelogue, YAF and all of the other genres. I have goals of my own in those genres but they necessarily must take a back seat as I'm more than halfway to a thesis poetry collection.

I'm going to have a sign by my lunch seat that says Poetry...find me that way or by my silly hat du jour...

cheers

Vinny & Marj,

Now that I see that you are planning a poetry workshop I am VERY sad that I can't be there to participate in it. :( I want to apologize for missing out on this residency as one of the few poets, I mis-planned my finances and didn't realize the residency fees weren't included in our tuition. Although I also enjoy trying my hand at new genres, I fully agree that it is difficult to write multiple fiction or memoir pieces when that is not what I am studying or pursuing. I also find it hard to give good constructive advice to my peers because I am not as fluent in those genres. I am thankful for you guys and your interest in our genre of choice! Weather permitting I will try to attend the public poetry slam. If you end up scheduling a workshop on Thursday, let me know and I will try to meet you. (860) 490-2921

CB,

It's just ML and me...we're going to do some workshop stuff tomorrow in the time alotted.

On thursday...the period from lunch to Snyder's "Fallen angel" viewing at the Midtown Campus is broken up by the Nord lecture on Journalism.

I can't speak for ML, but if you were willing to come down anytime from 12-3 or the dinner period onward to the late night poetry slam, we could find someway to coordinate your inclusion.

For tomorrow 12/29 - ML and I agree to work on 10 poems...5 we like, 5 we don't and 1 other nascent idea...if you want to send something along privately to vinniekmetz@yahoo.com, we can include you from afar - if the thursday schedule is still inconvenient for your purpose

cheers
