Online courses

Some of you no doubt have discovered that WebCT Vista is having problems. It's been reported to University Computing. I'll let you know when the problems are resolved.

What problems are others having? I simply can't get on the class site from my home computer. Name and password are fine, I can get to the WEBCT opening page, but when I click on the class I go back to the sign-in page. It's driving me reasonably crazy.

Hm. It probably means Oscar hasn't posted his syllabus yet. If he has posted it(and I'll check with him), you should contact university computing. The help desk number is 837-8467. There shouldn't be any other significant problems at the moment--let me know if there are.

Don, I just realized you're not in Oscar's class, you're in John's. I know he has posted his syllabus. you should contact university computing help desk.

Don - I think you're experiencing what I've been experiencing. When I look at a message posted, I try to go back and can't. I'm not sure I go to the home page again or just get stuck. If this is what's happening to you, I've fiddled with holding down the alt key while clicking on back. It takes a couple but usually gets me where I want to go. Not ideal, but it works.

Anne and Brian,
Thanks! Soon after I posted my remarks I began to be able to get access. Anne, I'll try your technique. I've learned the hard way that for longer posts it's always best to do them on WORD first and then cut-an-paste on to WEBCT. Nothing more frustrating then writing a significant post only to see it go POOF! when WEBCT goes away, which it invariably does about once every 30 minutes on my home computer.
Best Wishes,
Don

Also, try to avoid using the browser Back button. Use the navigation buttons within Vista.
